ACTIVITIES: CASE STUDIES AND BRAINSTORM SESSIONS

At the initial kick-off session, we explained to participants that, rather than functioning like a typical college IT class, this pilot program would operate more like an internship or internal company training. This meant the group would learn together, collaborate, and work in teams.

We use case studies and brainstorming sessions to encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication—durable skills essential for success in reentry, the workplace, and life.

The case study poses a problem that has negative and positive repercussions no matter what solution is chosen.

Discussions with no clear or easy solution help to develop problem-solving and reasoning skills in addition to promoting collaboration.

Decisions are presented, reasoning and positions are explained and expressed by both groups.

Additional case studies and brain storming group exercise will be added in. the coming weeks.
